BCAM and the Faculty of Informatics of the UPV/EHU have signed an agreement to launch the BCAM classroom in the Donostia-San Sebastian campus

• This joint space will promote teaching, research and collaborative innovation, encouraging joint training, research, development and innovation programmes
• The classroom will allow the students of the faculty to be initiated in the world of research and to know the work of an international center of excellence while carrying out their end of degree/master thesis in collaboration with researchers from BCAM and UPV/EHU
• The classroom began its activity on February 14 with a presentation of the research groups of BCAM and the Faculty of Informatics

The Faculty of Informatics of the University of the Basque Country (FISS) and the Basque Centre for Applied Mathematics - BCAM have signed a collaboration agreement for the creation of the UPV/EHU-BCAM room on the Donostia-San Sebastian Campus. The main objectives of this space will be to encourage collaboration between the members of both institutions, to promote training and dissemination, to allow students to get to know first-hand the work of an international center of excellence and to introduce them to the world of research in a multicultural and multidisciplinary environment, while they are completing their studies.

Thanks to this initiative, the students will have the opportunity to do internships in the classroom and carry out their end of degree/master's thesis in collaboration with expert researchers in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, as well as other areas such as Mathematics Applied to Biomedicine, Neurosciences, Materials Science, Mathematical Physics, Fluid Dynamics... In addition, the space will have a dynamic annual program of joint activities to promote training in various fields, including Artificial Intelligence or Quantum Computing.

The activities of the classroom began last February 14^th with a presentation by Alexander Mendiburu, Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science of the UPV/EHU, and Jose A. Lozano, scientific director of BCAM. Both were in charge of explaining to the attendees what the objectives of the classroom are and how it will work. Afterwards, the different research groups of the faculty and the center had the opportunity to present their main lines of research and their most relevant projects.
