BCAM participates in EOSC tripartite event in Portugal
BCAM will participate in the Spanish-Portuguese event together with the Severo Ochoa Network of Centres of Excellence (SOMMa) in Open Science
The University of Algarve in Faro, Portugal, hosted on 10 October the Tripartite event between Spain and Portugal of the EOSC (European Open Science Cloud). The workshop was held with the aim of creating synergies between Spanish and Portuguese research centres focused on the promotion of Open Science.
During the conference, several success stories and best practices were presented, in which the SOMMa network presented with the participation of Núria Benítez from the Catalan Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (INC2). During the presentation, the Open Science working group presented the current Spanish situation of universities, the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and the centres of excellence that contribute to the system.
The EOSC concept was presented, training opportunities were shared, collaborations were identified and the Spanish and Portuguese EOSC union was reinforced. The day ended with the reflection that EOSC is not only infrastructure but also a meeting place for joint collaboration between the scientific community and to advance in Open Science and in the evaluation of research based on purely scientific parameters.
The meeting brought together researchers, research e-infrastructure providers and policy actors in the framework of the EOSC. It also brought together members of the EOSC association where BCAM participates as an observer member, the EOSC Board of Directors, Open Science policy groups, the research team of EOSC projects from INFRAESOC H2020 and Destination 2 HEU, and other stakeholders in the area.

About EOSC
The ambition of the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) is to develop “Web of FAIR Data and services’ for science in Europe. EOSC will be a multi-disciplinary environment where researchers can publish, find and re-use data, tools and services, enabling them to better conduct their work.
EOSC builds on existing infrastructure and services supported by the EC, Member States and research communities. It brings these together in a federated ‘system of systems’ approach, adding value by aggregating content and enabling services to be used together.
