BCAM researchers participate in SMB 2021 annual meeting

Maíra Aguiar, leader of the MTB line at BCAM, is among the organizing committee.

Basque Center for Applied Mathematics - BCAM will be present at the annual meeting of the Society Mathematical Biology 2021 (SMB). Participants include Maíra Aguiar, Ikerbasque researcher at BCAM and leader of the Mathematical and Theoretical Biology research line, Nicole Cusimano and Damián Knopoff, both Postdoctoral fellows; Vizda Anam, PhD student, and Nico Stollenwerk, currently visitor fellow at the center. In addition, Maíra Aguiar is on the organizing committee of the event, which will be held online from 14-18 June 2021.

Aguiar will contribute to one of the sessions with her work on the “Modeling COVID19 in the Basque Country: from introduction to control”. This work has been carried out since the outbreak of the global pandemic of the coronavirus in March 2020. Stollenwerk will participate in another of the sessions where he will talk about the topic of "The interaction between subcritical fluctuations and importation: understanding the epidemiological dynamics of COVID-19".

On the other hand, Cusimano, Knopoff and Anam will present posters. The first one will present the dynamics of Covid-19 in the Basque Country, the second one a model for the spread of epidemics, and finally, Anam will present "Modelling immune responses to dengue measured by antibodies".
