BCAM supports the statistics contest "Incubator of soundings and experiments" for the third time

  • Researchers from the centre were part of the jury in this competition which aims to awaken the interest in Statistics of young students at non-university educational levels

The Department of Applied Mathematics and Statistics and Operational Research of the University of the Basque Country has held the 3rd edition of the "Incubator of Soundings and Experiments" competition for high school and middle-level training program students from educational centres in the Basque Country, with the collaboration of the Basque Center for Applied Mathematics - BCAM and the Basque Institute of Statistics (EUSTAT).

The aim of the competition is to promote the teaching and learning of Statistics, Probability and Operational Research at non-university educational levels, as well as to broaden the knowledge and skills of students in this field and to disseminate the importance and usefulness of Statistics in real life and as a fundamental tool in all sciences.

The best projects submitted by the students were presented in front of a jury made up of members of the UPV/EHU, EUSTAT and BCAM -including Inma Arostegui, Mikel Eguzki Garciarena and Dae-Jin Lee- on June 11th.

The winners of each category were announced two days later, in the awards ceremony, and will have the chance to represent the Basque Autonomous Community in the final phase organized by the SEIO at a national level. They were also awarded by BCAM with a gift card and a guided tour of the centre during the 2018-19 academic year.
