The City Council of Bilbao and BCAM - Basque Center for Applied Mathematics, strengthen their collaboration through the signing of an agreement focused on the promotion of internationalization, dissemination and innovation activities.
BCAM - Basque Center for Applied Mathematics, and the City Council of Bilbao, through Bilbao Ekintza -a municipal entity that promotes the generation of economic and social wealth for Bilbao-, will work together in the BILBOMATH project, which has six objectives:
- BCAM's participation in the Innolab open innovation platform and other innovation initiatives.
- Collaboration in the development of programs to bring mathematics closer to society and youth, as well as mathematics education.
- Joint collaboration in international events.
- Participation of BCAM in outreach programs.
- Organization by BCAM of international mathematics congresses and events.
- Search for synergies to strengthen multidisciplinary and international research spaces.
The Bilbao City Council and BCAM have a long history of collaboration in areas ranging from dissemination to the joint proposal of research projects in the European space. For example, BCAM has collaborated with BilbaoTIK from its Knowledge Transfer Unit in the analysis of data for the profiling of users of the Bilbao streetcar and is a partner of Innolab Bilbao, the open innovation platform promoted by the City Council.
Now, with this new agreement signed last December, both institutions are taking another step forward, strengthening ties to develop new actions and projects to continue innovating and attracting talent to the city, as an engine of progress and innovation.
