Luca Gerardo-Giorda participates in the conference of the Spanish Society of Cardiology Ritmo18

  • The BCAM researcher gave a talk on advanced computational modelling for the development of new ablation strategies

The fourth joint meeting of the Electrophysiology and Arrhythmias Section and the Cardiac Stimulation Section of the Spanish Society of Cardiology (SEC) was held in Seville on 7,8 and 9 March. Under the name Ritmo18, the event brought together nearly 800 national and international speakers of the highest scientific level to share the latest developments in the treatment of arrhythmias and cardiac stimulation. Luca Gerardo-Giorda, leader of BCAM's research line in Mathematical Modeling in Biosciences, participated in the event with a presentation on advanced computational modelling for the development of new strategies of ablation. Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA) is a technique in which several catheters are used to remove tissues that are causing changes in the patient's heart rhythm. Gerardo-Giorda and his team work to calculate and optimize the performance of these catheters through mathematics.
