  • Both of their theses have been directed by Ikerbasque Research Professor Javier Fernandez de Bobadilla, Leader of the Singularity Theory and Algebraic Geometry Group at BCAM

We are glad to announce that Pablo Portilla and Marta Agustín have successfully defended their doctoral theses in Madrid.

Pablo joined BCAM in March 2018 as a PhD student for three months, but he had visited the center many times before. His thesis, Monodromies as tête-à-tête graphs, defended on June 15th at Universidad Complutense de Madrid, has been directed by Ikerbasque Research Professor Javier Fernandez de Bobadilla, Leader of the Singularity Theory and Algebraic Geometry Group at BCAM, and Maria Pe Pereira from Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Fernandez de Bobadilla also directed Marta Augustín’s thesis, Intersection cohomology with torus actions of complexity one and intersection space complexes, defended on June 18th at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid.

Marta joined the Basque Center for Applied Mathematics as a PhD student on February 2017 for a year, after having visited the center several times. On behalf of all BCAM members, we would like to congratulate Pablo and Marta on this great achievement.
