SARA project begins

  • On January 1, the SARA project was launched, within the framework of the TransMisiones 2024 initiative.
  • On January 29th took place the Kick Off Meeting of the project. Aritz Pérez has participated as BCAM IP and Felipe Ponce as research team members.

On January 1, the SARA project was launched, within the framework of the TransMisiones 2024 initiative, an action carried out in collaboration between the Center for Technological and Innovation Development and the State Research Agency, which coordinates funding for groups of companies and groups of research and knowledge dissemination organizations that collaborate for the joint development of a coordinated R&D action.

SARA aims to contribute to the development of a new industrial ecosystem with the capacity to acquire collective knowledge, currently dispersed among different people and industry agents, and structure it according to manufacturing features and attributes, which allow, through the application of generative AI, its reuse and exploitation in two areas:

i) greater autonomy of manufacturing systems and

ii) assistance to people in making critical decisions.

On January 29th took place the Kick Off Meeting of the project. Aritz Pérez has participated as BCAM IP and Felipe Ponce as research team member. BCAM's tasks will focus on the development of distributed learning algorithms for classifiers. Probabilistic classifiers will enable predictive maintenance as well as other diagnostic and prediction problems. The main contribution will be in the development and implementation of robust supervised algorithms adaptable to network topologies covering the spectrum of federated, server-based, and decentralized and irregular architectures. The algorithms will extend the features of federated learning to arbitrary communication networks.

To this end, a consortium of companies will collaborate with Fagor Automation | CNC & Feedback Systems | Automation Solutions, including Grupo Aldakin, ATS Global, DENN (Industrias Puigjaner S.A.- DENN), Grupo Sevilla Control (GSC), IBARMIA, Inmapa Aeronáutica, SmartPM, in collaboration with a consortium of technology centres and universities led by the UPV/EH from the CFAA - Advanced Manufacturing Centre for Aeronautics together with the BCAM, the CIM UPC and IDEKO Research Center.
