Claudiu Mindrila defended his thesis on November 7th

The defence took place at Seminar Room of the Department of Mathematics Analysis, Charles University and online.

Claudiu Mindrila, studied Mathematics in University of Bucharest (Romania), and then a master’s degree in Mathematics in the University of Bonn (Germany. His interests are Partial differential equations (existence, uniqueness, regularity of weak solutions), Fluid dynamics: fluid-structure interactions, (in)compressible (non-)Newtonian flows and Harmonic analysis methods in analysis of PDEs. He currently works as a Research Technicia (postdoc position) at the Basque Center for Applied Mathematics (BCAM) in the Applied Analysis research group (AA).

His thesis, titled Time-periodic weak solutions for fluid-structure interactions is under the supervision of Dr. Sebastian Schwarzacher (Charles University).

Abstract

We present existence results for the interaction of a viscous fluid interacting with an elastic membrane moving in normal direction under the action of time-periodic forces. Provided the forces have sufficiently small L2-magnitude, we prove the existence of a time-periodic weak-solution and new uniform in time estimates of the energy.
