Elnazossadat Zohravi, Postdoctoral Fellow at BCAM (CFD Modelling and Simulation), has been distinguished by the City Council of Bilbao in the VI edition of the “Reconocimiento A Mujeres Migradas Bilbainas”. This award, presented by the Mayor of the City, Juan Mari Aburto, highlights her valuable contribution to the social and public life of the city. In the case of Elnaz, the distinction has been awarded in the category of Science.

This recognition is part of a municipal initiative promoted by the Local Immigration Council (CLI), which aims to highlight the role of migrant women in Bilbao and their impact on the community. The initiative is part of the Bilbao Intercultural City Plan, which promotes diversity and inclusion in the Biscayan capital. Along with Elnaz, five other women have been recognized for their contributions in the following areas: Woman Community Agent: Cristina Zamora (Peru); Woman Entrepreneur: Boldia Sdenka Antezana (Bolivia); Woman Politician: Luz Estella Romero (Colombia); Woman Artist: Africa Bibang (Guinea descent); and Young Woman: Fernanda Candida Esteve (Brazil).

“It is an honor to be recognized as a successful immigrant woman by the Bilbao City Council. The affirmation of my scientific work represents a beautiful confluence of personal achievement, my Iranian heritage and my integration into the Bilbao community. I am deeply grateful to BCAM for the exceptional opportunities it has provided me. This recognition would not be possible without the invaluable collaboration and encouragement of my supervisor, Marco Ellero, and my esteemed colleagues at BCAM, especially Nicolas Moreno”, declared Elnazossadat.

The Mayor of Bilbao, Juan Mari Aburto, highlighted in his recognition speech the incredible value of Elnaz and the other five honored women, stating that their stories "are a living testimony of strength, resilience, and the power of diversity." He emphasized the importance of their contributions in building a more inclusive, equitable, and prosperous society, and how they serve as role models for present and future generations.

From BCAM, we would like to share our pride and joy for this recognition to Elnaz. Congratulations!
