Martina Conte obtains one of the INPhINIT grants from "la Caixa" to do her PhD at BCAM

  • The objective of this doctoral grant program is to incorporate young national and international talents in universities and excellence research centres

Martina Conte, PhD student of  BCAM’s research line in Mathematical Modeling in Biosciences, participated in the award ceremony for the scholarships by "la Caixa" Banking Foundation last Tuesday. During the event, held at Caixa Forum Barcelona, the 77 fellows who are part of the foundation's doctoral grant programs for young national and international researchers were awarded.

Martina was selected from among 438 candidates in the first call of the INPhINIT doctoral program, aimed at researchers of all nationalities who are interested in pursuing a doctorate in research centers and units accredited with the Severo Ochoa and María de Maeztu seals of excellence.

Thanks to this scholarship, she is doing her PhD in Mathematics and Statistics at the Basque Center for Applied Mathematics. Martina graduated in Mathematics and holds a Master's degree in Applied Mathematics from the University of Parma (UNIPR), and has completed her training with a thesis on multi-scale mathematical models. She is currently working on her doctorate on the analysis of models for the study of the relationship between metabolism and cancer progression under the supervision of Luca Gerardo-Giorda, leader of the research line of the center in Mathematical Modeling in Biosciences. Luca attended the award ceremony as well, on behalf of BCAM.
