New edition of the Statistics contest for students "Incubator of Surveys and Experiments"

  • BCAM collaborates for the fourth time with the Department of Applied Mathematics and Statistics and Operational Research of the UPV/EHU and EUSTAT in this competition which aims to awaken the interest of young students in Statistics

The Department of Applied Mathematics and Statistics and Operational Research of the Faculty of Science and Technology (ZTF-FCT) of the University of the Basque Country UPV/EHU, with the collaboration of the Basque Center for Applied Mathematics - BCAM and the Basque Institute of Statistics EUSTAT, announce the competition "Incubator of Surveys and Experiments" for students of Secondary Education, Baccalaureate and Intermediate Grade Training Cycles of educational centres in the Basque Country.

The aim of this competition is to promote the teaching and learning of Statistics, Probability and Operational Research at non-university educational levels, as well as to broaden the knowledge and skills of students in this field and to disseminate the importance and usefulness of Statistics in real life and as a fundamental tool in practically all sciences.

This will be the 4th year of the competition in which BCAM collaborates. In addition to rewarding the winners and offering them a guided visit to the center, the members of the Applied Statistics research line participate in the jury and contribute to the evaluation of the projects presented by the students.

The competition rules are already available on the website of the UPV/EHU and the deadline for the presentation of projects by students will be open until May 19th, 2019.
