About the speaker:
Juan Antonio Cuesta Albertos is Full Professor of Statistics in the Department of Mathematics, Statistics and Computation at the Universidad de Cantabria (Spain). His research field is framed within the areas of Statistics and Probability, in which he has published more than 80 scientific articles in prestigious international journals such as Annals of Probability, Annals of Statistics, or Journal of the Royal Statistical Society. Series B. He has been the principal investigator in 9 research projects funded by the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness, and has supervised 4 PhD theses. He has been the editor-in-chief of TEST and associated editor of the International Journal of Statistics and Management Systems. Since January 2017, he is associate editor of the Journal of the American Statistical Association. He has been the director of the International Centre of Mathematical Meetings (Universidad de Cantabria).

Juan Antonio Cuesta Albertos es Catedrático de Estadística en el Departamento de Matemáticas, Estadística y Computación de la Universidad de Cantabria. Su campo de investigación se enmarca dentro de las áreas de Estadística y Probabilidad, en las que ha publicado más de 80 artículos científicos en revistas de reconocido prestigio internacional, como Annals of Probability, Annals of Statistics, o Journal of the Royal Statistical Society. Series B. Ha sido investigador principal en 9 proyectos de investigación financiados por el Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad, y ha dirigido 4 tesis doctorales. Ha sido editor jefe de TEST y editor asociado del Internacional Journal of Statistics and Management Systems. Desde Enero del 2017, es editor asociado del Journal of the American Statistical Association. Ha dirigido el Centro Internacional de Encuentros Matemáticos de la Universidad de Cantabria.
