Characterisation and differential diagnosis of lung pathologies with non-invasive image techniques

The study evaluates the applicability of high!resolution X!ray tomography (micro!CT) imaging to the quantitative analysis of lung lesions. The final goal is to determine the sensitivity and specificity of this method to detect and distinguish between these lesions in ad!hoc animal models. Our working hypothesis is that micro!CT imaging can detect lung lesions before other standard functional or analytic test. The result of this study will be a method for non!invasive follow!up of lung lesions in animal models. This will allow us to study in vivo the etiology of the disease and the e"ects of new therapeutic drugs.
