Objective:

"The MATHEO project aims to address the problem associated with the uncertainty of the environmental effects that determine the design conditions of increasingly large grounded structures and on novel designs of floating structures. Although commercial tools are available to simulate the dynamics to which offshore wind structures are subjected, there is still a need in the industry for a good understanding and formulation of the physical phenomena to which they are subjected. Approaching the design of these large components by oversizing them to ensure their lifetime operation is not the best solution from an economic point of view. Companies that adopt advanced mathematical models for their designs can gain an advantage over the competition. This is coupled with the trend in the digitisation of components. By applying deep learning and big data techniques to process large amounts of data, it is possible to improve information on operation and remaining life, thus providing valuable information for maintenance and for the redesign of new products. Although these techniques are already used in other sectors, they are still at an embryonic stage of implementation in offshore wind, and in no case linked to advanced mathematical models or design tools."
