QuMA (Queer and Trans in Mathematical Analysis) is a three-day hybrid (both online and in person) workshop that will take place at the Basque Center for Applied Mathematics in Bilbao from the 12th to the 14th of June, consisting of invited and contributed talks, as well as panels and roundtable discussions where the audience participants are encouraged to make their voices heard.
The majority of talks will be in mathematical analysis from speakers from marginalised groups, with some being of an activist nature. While the name of the conference relates specifically to queer and trans people, we aim for this event to be of an intersectional nature. Our goal is to have speakers and participants from a diverse selection of marginalised groups in mathematics.
A lot of work still has to be done to make mathematics a truly inclusive environment, and we believe that organising conferences with an intersectional approach is a necessary step towards this change. Our liberation has to be for and with all of us.
