Luis Vega González, Elected member of th Royal Spanish academy of Sciences (RAC)

Luis VEGA GONZÁLEZ, Scientific Director of BCAM-Basque Center for Applied Mathematics since 2013, as member of the Royal Spanish Academy of Sciences (Spanish name: RAC-Real Academia de Ciencias Exactas, Físicas y Naturales), composed of 54 Full Members, 90 National Correspondents, an undetermined number of other Honorary Members, and the Foreign Correspondents.

Luis VEGA GONZÁLEZ (Madrid, 1960), BA at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (1982) PhD at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (1988). After a two-year stay at the University of Chicago, he joined the UAM. Since1995 is Full Professor of Mathematical Analysis at the University of the Basque Country.

He has been a visiting professor at Universities, and member of Research Institutes the United States, France, United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Japan and China. He is fellow (inaugural class) of the American Mathematical Society and member of the European Academy of Science.

Recognized as a highly cited researcher, he is also Editor several national and international Journals and Managing Editor of Revista Matemática Iberoamericana. He received the Euskadi Research Prize 2012, an ERC-European Research Council Advanced Grant (ERC Call 2014- Project HADE- "Harmonic Analysis and Differential Equations: New Challenges”) and was awarded with the 2015 Blaise Pascal Medal in Mathematics.
