BCAM collaborates in the European Researchers Night organized by Bilbao City Council

  • Dae-Jin Lee, researcher at the centre, will take part in the celebration with a dissemination talk on mathematics and innovation

Bilbao City Council celebrates the third edition of its European Researchers Night, with the collaboration of the Basque Center for Applied Mathematics - BCAM and Bizilabe. This event is held simultaneously in more than 300 European cities, with the aim of bringing research and scientists closer to the public, so that they can get to know their work, the benefits they bring to society and the repercussions of their job in everyday life.

In Bilbao, the European Researchers Night has a scientific dissemination programme that will include workshops and conferences for all audiences on Friday September 27th and Saturday September 28th at the Deusto Municipal Centre and its surroundings.

One of the talks, entitled "Mathematics of Innovation: from the theorems of Fourier and Bayes to Digital Transformation and Start-ups", will be given by Dae-Jin Lee, leader of BCAM's research line in Applied Statistics. In it, he will try to give an overview through several examples of everyday life, based on the analogy between the creation of a start-up and innovation through the scientific method. The talk will take place on September 28th at 18:45 at the Deusto Municipal Centre (Lehendakari Aguirre 42).
