BCAM signs an agreement with Tsinghua University, one of the most prestigious universities in Asia, to collaborate on Artificial Intelligence projects

  • The centre will collaborate with the electronic engineering department of the Chinese university by promoting the exchange of students and researchers and the organization of joint activities 

Professor Yidong Huang of the Department of Electronic Engineering at the University of Tsinghua (China) and the Scientific Director of the Basque Center for Applied Mathematics - BCAM, José Antonio Lozano, have signed a collaboration agreement to highlight the importance of international cooperation between the two institutions, as well as the enormous interest in strengthening relations in the area of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence.

By signing this agreement, BCAM will collaborate actively for five years with this institution promoting the exchange of students and researchers to develop projects on Artificial Intelligence. Likewise, both parties agree to carry out joint projects of education, research and organization of conferences and seminars, as well as any other activity considered of mutual interest for their institutions.

Through the pursuit of education and research at the highest level of excellence, Tsinghua University is developing innovative solutions that will help solve pressing problems in China and around the world. In fact, it ranks first among the most prestigious universities in Asia in the field of engineering and technology and fourteenth in the world ranking, according to the Times Higher Education World Reputation Ranking. In 2019 it also ranked 6th in the SCImago universities ranking.

The members of the university will collaborate closely with the Artificial Intelligence group that has recently started BCAM and which aims to generate knowledge in this field and apply innovative techniques to generate knowledge in other areas of Mathematics.
