The 5th EACA International School on Computer Algebra and its Applications will take place at BCAM in the end of February

  • Among others, the event will cover applications of computer algebra in the sciences, engineering, communication, medicine, pure and applied mathematics, education and computer science
The thematic network on Symbolic Computing, Computer Algebra and Applications, EACA, organizes a yearly school to facilitate the exchange of scientific knowledge, as well as to seek the cohesion and development of the different national research groups within this thematic framework. The Basque Center for Applied Mathematics – BCAM will host the 5th edition of this activity on February 27th and 28th, 2020. The event was previously held in cities such as Tenerife, Valladolid, Seville and Santiago de Compostela. The school intends to provide an opportunity for young researchers (namely, Master and PhD students and Postdocs) in Computer Algebra and Symbolic Computation or in its Applications from all over the world, to learn from four internationally recognized speakers, about recent developments on the area. The first lecture will be given by Dr Willem A. De Graaf from Università degli Studi di Trento (Italy) and it will be entitled Classifying small dimensional algebras. The second one will be related to Code-based Crytpography and it will be offered by Dr Irene Márquez from Universidad de La Laguna. Finally, Dr Gonzalo G. de Polavieja and Dr Fernando Martín Maroto from the Champalimaud Foundation (Portugal) will give a talk on Algebraic Machine Learning. The event will also cover applications of computer algebra in the sciences, engineering, communication, medicine, pure and applied mathematics, education and computer science. The application of these topics is directly related to the research done at the Basque Center for Applied Mathematics, especially to the projects on artificial intelligence and cybersecurity that have been launched recently. The EACA School is an activity partially supported by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, under the Acciones de Dinamización "Redes de Excelencia".
