The International Workshop on Singular Integral Operators takes place in China

  • This conference marks the beginning of the collaboration among the Basque Center for Applied Mathematics and Chern Institute of Mathematics

The International Workshop on Singular Integral Operators was held in Chern Institute of Mathematics (Tianjin, China) between July 2nd to 6th, and was organized by BCAM Postoc Fellow Kangwei Li, Wenchang Sun (Nankai University), Zhenqiu Zhang (Nankai University) and Qingying Xue (Beijing Normal University).

The workshop received a relevant number of participants from Spain, especially from the Basque Center for Applied Mathematics - BCAM and the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), including Luis Vega, Carlos Perez, Ioannis Parissis, Mihalis Mourgoglou, Luz Roncal and Kangwei Li. Prof. Luis Vega, BCAM’s Scientific Director, gave the first plenary talk of the workshop: “Riemann’s non-differentiable function: Talbot effect and Intermittency”.

Chern Institute of Mathematics was founded by the Wolf medalist, Shiing-Shen Chern and now is one of the most important research institutes on Mathematics and Physics in China (the Theoretical Physics research group at CIM was co-founded by the Nobel medalist Chen-Ning Yang). BCAM is also an internationally well-known and fast-growing research center on Pure and Applied Mathematics. Through this conference, a bridge between BCAM and CIM is built, which we hope might bring numerous collaborations in the future.
