Big Data, a tool in the fight against Climate Change

  • BC3 and BCAM collaborate on an event that will explore the relevance of Big Data and Machine Learning to address the challenges of climate change during Asteklima

Big Data and Machine Learning will play an important role in the future of climate predictive systems and modern analytical tools to determine actions at local, regional and national levels to address climate change.  With the aim of analysing the relevance of these technologies when it comes to improving decision-making towards a more sustainable world, the Basque Center for Climate Change - BC3 and the Basque Center for Applied Mathematics - BCAM have organised a meeting entitled "Big Data tool in the fight against Climate Change" which will take place on March 4th from 9:00 to 12:30 at Ihobe - Edificio Bizkaia, Alameda Urquijo 36 (Bilbao). During the meeting, experts in Big Data and climate change researchers will discuss the possibilities of this technology and its applicability in the context of the challenges posed by climate change and sustainable development. The programme will include several talks and a round table. One of the talks will be given by the leader of BCAM's line of research in Applied Statistics, Dae-Jin Lee. He will also participate in the round table along with Jose Antonio Lozano, the center’s Scientific Director.
